Definition:
Low alloy structural steel with high corrosion resistance is used in atmospheric environment. The corrosion resistance of weathering steel is 2-8 times that of ordinary carbon steel. The longer the service time, the more outstanding the corrosion resistance.

Corrosion resistance mechanism:
Weathering steel is not stainless steel. After rusting for a period of time, due to the enrichment of Cu, P, Cr, Ni and other trace elements on the steel surface, a dense amorphous rust layer structure is formed, and it is very firmly combined with the substrate. This stabilized rust layer can resist the intrusion of moisture and harmful ions in the atmosphere to a certain extent, and prevent further corrosion of the base metal.

Typical applications of weathering steel in the world

Advantages of using weathering steel for solar photovoltaic support:
◆ Long life: In dry and less polluted areas, the life of weather-resistant steel photovoltaic support can reach 30 years; and compared with hot-dip galvanizing, it has strong wind and sand resistance and is not easy to wear out.
◆ Maintenance-free: No maintenance is required, reducing operating costs;
◆ Cost reduction: weathering steel does not require hot-dip galvanizing, and the overall cost is reduced by more than 15%;
◆ Environmental protection: Weathering steel does not require hot-dip galvanizing, which is energy-saving and environmentally friendly.
◆ Delivery time: no need for hot-dip galvanizing, optimized delivery time
